The sense of satisfaction must be strong anytime a major leaguer swings at a pitch and deposits it over a wall 300 or more feet away. But to do the same thing with a broken bat? I’ll never understand how the primal surge of ego and pride doesn’t compel the hitter to roar around the bases while flexing his muscles and waving the bat shards over his head.
