Houston’s Harrell pitching to contact
Right-handed pitcher Lucas Harrell, in his start for Houston at Los Angeles on Friday, allowed one run in 7 1/3 innings.
What caught the attention of the stats folks is that he threw 94 pitches, and did not have a single pitch on which a hitter swung and missed.
It was the seventh time since 2000 that a pitcher worked at least seven innings and did not have a swing and miss. It marked the first time since Hiroki Kuroda of the Dodgers did it against Pittsburgh on Sept. 15, 2008.
